Response to Slats Post: Comparing Fitzgerald to Starr
Is this the best Slats and the Right can do? Instead of dealing with the fact that the Bush administration is sleazy and corrupt and repeatedly lied to us to get us into a contrived wag-the-dog war in Iraq to win elections (See Frank Rich's 10/23/05 article in the New York Times), Slats and the Right needs to resort to that old saw of being critical of Clinton. If I responded by referencing the Nixon years and the Watergate scandal, would that be persuasive support of my argument that Bush and his administration are incompetent and dishonest? I think not. Obviously, the Republicans are desperate! What's next? John Quincy Adams' defeat of Andrew Jackson in 1820?

Mark my words: If Fitzgerald closes this investigation without indicting anyone; or worse (better?) yet, by indicting a journalist, or Wilson, or Plame herself, we will see a trashing of Fitzgerald by the left that will make the trashing of Ken Starr look like a grade school prank.
